Indeed, the delta variant (B.1.617.2) has just come out of the B.1.617 lineage. There are two more variants - B.1.617.1 and B.1.617.3, in which B.1.617.1 is listed by the WHO as a variant of interest (VOI) and named Kappa.

Delta variant India has recently faced another dangerous wave due to Delta variant. Cases are declining, but it could take another week of July to reach February levels. Delta variants were found in 33% of the 21,000 samples collected by the end of May 2014. Experts say antibody levels are never the only marker for immunity. There is also much evidence that the virus is spreading faster than the Delta Plus variant. Because of this, the WHO does not currently list it as a Variant of Concern (VOC).

Of the 36 Delta-Plus patients found in England, 18 have not been vaccinated. Only two people took both doses of the vaccine. No deaths have been reported in 36 cases so far. Similarly in the Delta Plus case there were only two 60+. That is, most cases are under 60 years of age.
