Thoughts on hosting T-20 World Cup with IPL in UAE There are also clouds of doubt over T-20 World Cup due to IPL suspension due to Corona. The ICC has opted for the UAE as a backup. The board may consider taking the time till June to hold the T-20 World Cup in the UAE along with the IPL.
When was the IPL played in UAE ?
The IPL, the world's largest cricket league, will be played in the UAE for the third time.
The first 20 matches of the league were played during the Lok Sabha elections in India in early 2014.
At the same time, the 2020 season was held in the UAE due to Corona.
Last season, 60 matches were played in 3 stadiums, including Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. This also led to good revenue for the UAE.
BCCI also paid Rs 98.5 crore to the Arab Cricket Board last year in return for IPL hosting.
The 3 reasons to UAE in favor of in-
Low cost: The first reason to get IPL in UAE is that the cost of getting IPL in UAE will be less than in England. In England, hotels, stadiums, etc. cost more than in the UAE. Teams from the UAE can easily reach the stadium by road. Travel costs to England will increase. Excessive travel will also increase the risk of corona infection.
Atmosphere: Another reason why the rest of the IPL matches are not in the UK is the uncertain England season in September. There may be many matches canceled due to rain. While in the UAE, there will be cold weather in September. Which will be better for the players and staff.
Experience: UAE is the first choice for the rest of the IPL matches, as there is experience in hosting tournaments. The previous IPL season was held in the UAE. In such a situation, there is information of challenges. While no IPL match has been played in England till date.
