Deforestation and encroachment on land and water resources are responsible for the rising heat and natural disasters in Gujarat. This has led to a fourfold increase in the incidence of hurricanes, droughts and floods in the last 50 years. The surface temperature of the Arabian Sea has risen by 1.4 degrees Celsius over the last two decades. This has led to an increase in the incidence of hurricanes on the west coast and hurricanes are coming every year after 2018.

People are suffering from scorching heat with rising temperatures over the last few days in the state responsible for the microclimatic changes behind all the incidents . The state has been devastated by the recent cyclone Tau-te. At the same time, sometimes droughts and sometimes floods occur in the state. Behind all these phenomena is the destruction of forests as well as encroachment on land and water resources along with microclimate changes in the atmosphere.



According to an analysis
released by the Council of Energy Environment and Water (CEEW) based on CEEW's analysis, the state has seen a three-fold increase in cyclone incidence, a nine-fold increase in drought incidence and a four-fold increase in flood incidence in the last 50 years.

According to the CEEW, districts of Saurashtra like Amreli, Girsomnath, Junagadh and Porbandar are affected by severe storms.
