On the second day of the hurricane in South Gujarat, farmers lined up at APMC markets and congregations to sell 17,130 tonnes of mangoes lying on the ground. Hafus and saffron, which used to fetch farmers Rs 1,100 to Rs 1,400 a mound before the hurricane, fetched Rs 200 to Rs 400 a mound after the hurricane.

Surat: 8000 tons of mangoes were sent to
APMC. Mango crop was ready on 3063 hectares of land in Surat district. The next day after the mangoes fell due to the hurricane, farmers lined up at the APMC market to sell mangoes. An estimated 8,000 tonnes of mangoes arrived at the Surat APMC market for sale. In the district, Rs. Saffron mangoes sold at Rs 1,100 to Rs 1,400 on Wednesday.
