The Prime Minister's Kisan Sanman Nidhi Yojana is a living example of how government schemes go awry and the government has acknowledged this. The government has said in the Lok Sabha that Rs 2327 crore was paid to 32.91 lakh farmers under the scheme who did not fall under the specific criteria for the scheme, meaning the government lost Rs 2,327 crore.
However, this is not the first time that the government has admitted that there has been turmoil under the scheme. Earlier last month, in an RTI reply, the government had admitted that Rs 1364 crore had been given to 20.48 lakh ineligible farmers under the Kisan Sanman Nidhi Yojana.

has also come across that 40% of the money sent to ineligible farmers under the scheme, i.e. every fourth farmer belongs to the BJP-ruled state. This means that even the BJP governments cannot implement the scheme properly.
At present, there are BJP or allied governments in 23 states and union territories. An amount of Rs 1,092 crore was sent to 13.76 lakh ineligible farmers in these states. In the 12 states where Congress or other parties have governments, Rs 1235 crore was paid to 19.14 lakh ineligible farmers. The scheme has not yet been implemented in West Bengal.

The government
has not been able to recover even 10% of the amount paid to ineligible farmers so far. Of the Rs 2,327 crore sent to ineligible farmers so far, only about Rs 232 crore has been recovered.
Surprisingly, there are 17 states where 1.92 lakh ineligible farmers were given Rs 180.36 crore, but the government has not been able to recover a single rupee. Even in this, 14 states are ruled by BJP. Only Delhi, Puducherry and Odisha do not have a BJP government.
This is the case of ineligible farmers, now how many eligible farmers have got?
Along with ineligible farmers, the government has also shared data of farmers who fall under the criteria of the Farmers Honor Fund Scheme. According to him, the government has so far disbursed Rs 115.22 crore to 10.74 crore farmers under the scheme.
After all, who can take advantage of the Kisan Sanman Nidhi?
The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sanman Nidhi Yojana was launched on February 24, 2019. However, it was implemented from December 2018 by going into backdate. Under this scheme, eligible farmers get Rs. 6,000 in 3 installments every year, i.e. Rs. 2,000 in 4 months.
Initially the same farmers were included under the scheme who had less than 2 hectares of land, but then all the farmers were included in the scheme. However, government employees or income tax payers were not included in the scheme.
In addition, doctors, engineers, CAs and employees receiving a pension of more than Rs 10,000 are also not covered under the scheme. Ministers, MPs and MLAs have also been excluded from the scheme.
