1. Water level rose in Rishiganga and Dhauliganga
The glacier collapsed in Rishiganga at around 10.30 am on Sunday in Tapovan area of Chamoli. This raised the water level of the river. The water level also rose due to the same river flowing into the village of Raini and meeting the Dhauliganga. There was a lot of tension on the banks of the rivers. The surrounding villages were then evacuated.
2. The projects of Rishiganga and NTPC were destroyed
The Rishiganga power project was built at Renigam on the banks of the Rishiganga river. The project was completely destroyed. The bridge built by the Border Road Organization on Joshimath Malaria Highway here was also broken. Where the water of Rishiganga meets Dhauliganga, the water level has also risen. Water seeped into the NTPC project. Due to which two bridges connecting the village were stretched.
3. Rescue operation by Army and Air Force
Apart from SDRF, NDRF, ITBP, the army has sent 600 soldiers to Chamoli. Apart from this, the Air Force has sent three helicopters including Mi-17 and Dhruv on rescue missions. Air Force C-130 Super Hercules aircraft arrives in Dehradun with relief supplies. In addition to evacuating workers trapped in the NTPC tunnel in Tapovan, people are also being searched by an aerial survey. The missing persons of Reni village are also being searched.
