More sweet watermelon: Karnataka farmer grows yellow watermelon scientifically, earns Rs 1 lakh
With the onset of summer, watermelons appear in the market. A farmer in Karnataka has planted a different type of watermelon. In Korali village of Gulberg city, Basavaraj Patil has cultivated not scientifically red but yellow melon. These watermelons are offered for sale in the local market and Big Bazaar.
Scientifically cultivated watermelon grower Basavaraj has also made a good profit. Produced by investing Rs. 2 lakhs and made a profit of Rs. 1 lakhs.
"Yellow watermelon is sweeter than red watermelon," Basavaraj Patil told ANI. Farmers in India should also cultivate with the help of technology and science.
Earlier, Nitesh Borkar, an engineer-turned-farmer in Goa, had grown yellow melons organically. 250 melons were planted without using any chemical fertilizer or medicine. He had invested Rs 4,000 in this plantation and earned more than Rs 30,000 in return.

The peel of a yellow watermelon is as red as a red watermelon. Yellow watermelon is rich in vitamins A and C, it is useful for the immune system and skin health.
