Forty farmers' organizations protesting against the agricultural law have announced a strike in the country from 12 noon to 3 pm today. The farmers said the demonstration would be peaceful. On the other hand, Indian Farmers Union spokesperson Rakesh Tikait said that roads in Delhi-NCR, UP and Uttarakhand would not be jammed. "Delhi has a daily traffic jam, so there is no need to jam," he said. However, the reason given is to keep UP and Uttarakhand separate from the movement. "Farmers in both the states have been kept on standby and can be called at any time," he said.

Why is Chakkajam kept?
In the budget presented on February 1, the demands of the farmers were ignored and instead of the agitation taking place on the Delhi border, the protests were staged to block the internet. Farmers' organizations say tractors belonging to many farmers have been seized since the January 26 tractor rally. This will be done against the fact that many places around the Delhi border have been completely blocked.

Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Delhi-NCR has been extended for two more weeks in view of the chakkajam of farmers. CRPF units in Delhi have been asked to install iron nets on their buses. Delhi Police has also been alerted. Police are on high alert in the wake of the January 26 violence. Delhi Police has also contacted the metro station officials. Some metro stations may be closed today due to the situation.
