Suzuki-Toyota's small e-car may arrive this year, Hyundai's e-car will cover a distance of 500 km

According to the report, Toyota is building a small car with the codename 560B
Hyundai's e-car will be based on a completely new platform (e-GMP)

In the new year auto companies are focusing on electric mobility instead of combustion engines. Toyota-Suzuki recently announced that it will launch a small electric car by the end of the year 2021. As well, Hyundai is also preparing to launch an electric car based on its new platform this year.  Let us know in detail about these two developments.

1. Toyota-Suzuki Small Electric Car

Two Japanese automobile companies, Suzuki and Toyota, are partnering to benefit from each other's power in a number of divisions. This is important not only for global markets but also for India. Last year Toyota's local product series was augmented with Glenza, a rebased version of the Blaeno.
Urban Cruiser also came out with this badge swapping exercise a few months ago and both are achieving good sales figures. In addition, the Innova Crista and Fortuner have been available in Toyota's portfolio for years. According to the report, Maruti Suzuki and Toyota have long been working on a mid-size SUV based on the Rise platform.
It could launch next year and unlike Badge Swapping Exercises it is possible that it will be developed with each brand preference and will share platforms and components to reduce production costs. It will compete with mid size SUVs like Hyundai Creta, Kia Sonnet, Nissan Kicks, Tata Harrier, MG Hector.

2. The company is working on a cheap electric car

According to a recent report published on the Internet, Toyota is developing a small car called the codename 560B and is expected to launch later this year or early 2022. This can be a budget friendly and mass market focused electric car.
The report also said that Toyota is also working on the MPV, which will be placed in the slot between Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Toyota Innova Krista. That is, it will directly compete with Mahindra Marajo. That being said, this badge will not be a swapping product but a completely new product. It could be launched in the market in the second half of next year.

3. Hyundai electric cars will have a range of 500 km

Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Yusun Chung also gave a message to its worldwide employees in the new year, in which he explained about the company’s strategy and commitment. In his message, he emphasized on making significant progress in eco-friendly as well as future technology.

Talking about the company's vision, Chung said that Hyundai has become a top-tier global eco-friendly brand.

In December last year, Hyundai introduced its new Electric-Global Modular Platform (e-GMP), a dedicated battery electric vehicle platform. The new e-GMP platform from this year is Hyundai Group's EV range (which includes Hyundai's IONIQ5), Kia's first dedicated BEV, which will be unveiled this year and will be seen in Genesis luxury brand crossover electric vehicles.

According to Hyundai, the EV based on e-GMP will offer a full charge range of more than 500 kilometers (according to the WLTP test cycle). In addition, the battery will be charged to 80 percent in just 18 minutes and can cover a distance of up to 100 km in just five minutes of charging.
