The state has been receiving unseasonal rains for the last 3 days. A total of 142 talukas in the state received rainfall in the last 24 hours, with the highest rainfall of 2 inches in Umarpada, Surat. After that Khergam, Umargam, Vapi, Chikhli, Surat city, Waghai, Jafarabad, Kamaraj talukas including half to 2 inches of rain fell. With this in mind, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has announced that a survey will be conducted on the damage done to the crops of the farmers in the state and compensation will be paid to the farmers as per the damage found in the survey.

Heavy damage to Ravi crop from Mavtha

In Amreli, one and a half inches of rain fell in Jafrabad and one inch in Rajula. Savarkundla, the pillars were also wet. The rains have caused severe damage to chickpea, cumin, onion, cotton and vegetable crops in the area. It rained in Godhra, Halol, Kalol in Panchmahal. In Mahisagar district also, Ravi crop has been severely damaged due to rains.


Flowering on mangoes will be affected

The way the climate is changing is likely to lead to pests in the winter crop and delay in the flowering of mangoes. While there will be less damage to the chickpea crop, said the Chancellor of Junagadh Agricultural University, Dr. V.P. Chowtiya has stated. The mango crop will suffer the most from the rainfall recorded in Junagadh panth, as now is the time for flowering in mangoes.
