Overview
State Election Commission, Gujarat was constituted in September 1993 under Article 243K of the Constitution of India. State Election Commission has been entrusted with the function of conducting free, fair and impartial elections to the local bodies in the state.
State Government has appointed Dr. Varesh Sinha, IAS (Retd) as State Election Commissioner w.e.f 25/11/2014.
After constitution of State Election Commission in 1993, Shri B. K. Shah, Shri P. J. Dholakiya and Shri Ashok Bhatia, Shri K.C.Kapoor, Shri P.S.Shah (I/C) have worked as State Election Commissioner.
